Stress, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Depression, Insomnia, Anxiety, Panic attacks - all of these have been successfully helped by Stephen Chan using hypnosis, hypnotherapy and specialised cognitive training (The Thrive Programme™ - click here for more info).
The mind body connection is a scientific FACT - your mind and your body are connected - every thought you have produces an emotion and every emotion has an effect upon the body and your behaviour. You already know that blushing is an indication of embarrassment, a frightening thought can set your heart racing, or a sudden piece of bad news can throw all your systems out of sync. Yet did you know that mental thoughts like loneliness or sadness, can also have a massive impact on your body and/or your behaviour. The most obvious way in which the mind adversely affects the body is through STRESS. So learning to manage stress using hypnosis, hypnotherapy and/or stress management techniques, through The Thrive Programme™, are vital. For example: Imagine squeezing a tube of toothpaste whilst the top is still screwed on - what happens? It's only a matter of time before the toothpaste forces its way out of the bottom or side, whichever is the weakest point. Now imagine you are that tube of toothpaste, and you are being squeezed by emotional or physical pressure and stress. If you don't take the lid off, by recognising what is happening and take time out for some stress management, to relax, or deal with your inner conflicts, guess what happens to all the mental and emotional pressure building up inside you? Like that tube of toothpaste, it will come out somewhere else. It will find your weakest point, which could be your digestive system (Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS), your nerves, your immune system, or your sleep patterns (Insomnia). If it's 'bottled up' it becomes illness, depression, addiction or anxiety (panic and panic attacks). When it's projected outwards it becomes hostility, destructive actions or aggression. Stress also has a direct effect on your immune system - the reason for this is that negative emotions produced when you are under stress, make you feel threatened. This, in turn, causes your body to move into the 'flight or fight' response. This response produces chemicals which deplete our immune systems. And when our immune system is depleted we become vulnerable to disease - if you need proof of this - is it a coincidence that we often fall prey to colds, cold sores, headaches or aching limbs when we are going thorough stressful periods? Now, all the day to day stressors that we are trying to deal with, the problems in the here and now (aka life!) are exacerbated - because we are still carrying all the underlying / unconscious stress that I have already mentioned. So is it any wonder that every drama is becoming a crisis? And what do you think all this is doing to your already depleted immune system? The following are examples of the stress related symptoms that I have successfully helped over the years:
Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Chronic fatigue Syndrome
Cardio vascular problems
